What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient practice where fine needles are inserted into the body along different meridians, to promote the flow of energy in our bodies. Although it is popular therapy for pain management, it is also often used to treat many other different diseases and disorders.

What is reflexology?

Reflexology is a therapeutic method used to relieve pain by stimulating predefined pressure points.  Traditionally it is done on the feet and hands.  Auricular (ear) reflexology utilizes the same principles of traditional reflexology, but the pressure points reside in the ear.

What is Yin Yang Reflexology?

Yin Yang Reflexology is a technique that focuses on pressure points found all over the body.  It is performed by hand, with finger pressure, and may also include the use of acupuncture.  Unlike conventional reflexology, these treatments are not limited to reflex points on the hands and feet.  To learn more about Yin Yang Reflexology, visit our Teaching Corner, and refer to this article written by Chin.

How often do I need to come in for a treatment?

It is best to come more frequently when you first begin treatments at our clinic.  To get better results, we recommend that you come in a minimum of once per week for 5 weeks.  Once you begin to feel better, you can extend the amount of time between treatments accordingly.

After one treatment, my pain feels better, but it doesn’t last.  Are the treatments not working?

In pain relief treatments, even 15 minutes of relief is considered successful.  The key is patience.  If you have been experiencing chronic pain for many years, it will take time to rid the body of the accumulation of blockages and toxins relating to the pain.  Let your body heal itself naturally.  Do not be discouraged.  The amount of pain relief you feel will increase over time.

I feel better now.  Why should I come back for maintenance?

Just because you do not feel any symptoms, does not mean that the condition no longer exists.  We try our best to re-balance the bodys’ energy so that you can feel more comfortable.  Without maintenance, the imbalance or blockage, may return.  Many of our clients continue to return because they have made reflexology a part of their healthy lifestyle.

How about pain from arthirits?

All pain, regardless of its source (i.e. arthritis, sciatica, hip pain, etc.) are caused by blocked energy.  So pain and arthritis are parallel to each other, in that they both stem from the same cause.  If you suffer from arthritis, we can help clear this energy blockage, treating both the pain and arthritis.

I am sore all over.  How can you help?

Through our experiences we find that even if you suffer from many different symptoms, they may stem from the same source.  We do not believe in only treating a localized area, but the body as a whole.  So whether you come in for one health concern or a hundred, we will treat them all in conjunction with one another.

Heel spurs, plantar fasciitis, sciatica, knee pain, herniated discs… are all proven to be difficult to treat.  What will you do to treat them differently?

All these pains have one thing in common. The source of the pain does not come from the bone spur, cartilage, or pinched nerve.  It is the blocked energy that creates the pain, soreness, or tightness. To successfully handle and treat this pain, we need to understand how it travels within the meridian energy pathway in order to treat it successfully.  If you are interested in learning more about energy and the techniques behind our treatments, visit our Teaching Corner.

My thumb joint is very sore.  I don’t even have the strength to open a jar.  How can you help?

The thumb is related to your Lung energy.  The soreness of the thumb can be relieved by reflex points found on the shoulder or ankle.  To truly understand how these areas are all related, we invite you to review the ‘5- Element Theory’ in our Teaching Corner.
